MobiSpec

Tools for the Mobile Spectroscopist

MobiSpec is a new tool to enhance the productivity of the research chemist. Using a Pocket PC, and optionally memory expansion or wireless networking cards, it is possible to review and evaluate spectroscopic and chromatographic data virtually anywhere.

MobiSpec has been specifically designed to make the most efficient use of the form-factor and user-interface of modern PDA devices. Despite the compact display dimensions, it is possible to inspect data at high levels of detail, and compare multiple traces with one another.

The "instant-on" nature of a Pocket PC means that you can return to the MobiSpec application in exactly the same state as you left it the last time the device was turned off.

By means of standard wireless connection protocols, MobiSpec can be used to view data which resides anywhere on the corporate LAN. WLAN and Bluetooth^TM are probably the most common standards used for this purpose, but it is also to possible to use GSM/GPRS/UMTS mobile services to establish a VPN connection (assuming the existing of a suitable VPN gateway on the LAN), and review your data remotely from almost anywhere in the world.

MobiSpec is compatible with Pocket PC devices running the Microsoft® Windows Mobile 2003 operating system.
